Now that I have bashed ?top ten? lists, here is one I?m actually paying attention to. Just in time for Valentine?s day, The New York Times has done a tasting of salted caramels, and Portland?s own Sahag?n?Chocolates is one of the top ten. The editors describe it as:
Robust and Rustic
Sahag?n
Meant to be eaten in one bite, this bittersweet caramel has a syrupy center that flows freely and lusciously once you crack the rather sturdy chocolate shell.
I couldn?t agree more.
"I have a wide-range of food experience - working in the restaurant industry on both sides of the house, later in the wine industry, and finally traveling/tasting my way around the world. Whether you agree or disagree, you can always count on my unbiased opinion. I don't take free meals, and the restaurants don't know when, or if, I am coming."
