Nonprofit email marketing is on the rise according to a Q1 2012 analysis by email marketing leader Elite Email . When compared to the same quarter of the previous year, there has been an increase of 14% in the nonprofit and charity vertical. Email marketing is slowly becoming a primary marketing and communication strategy for nonprofit and charity organizations .
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 30, 2012
With the growing popularity of email marketing and social media , nonprofit and charity organizations have had to rethink their outbound marketing initiatives to keep up with the times. While social media is certainly a great avenue for these organizations, many are realizing that those platforms only allow them to reach out to those who are social media savvy. In reality, their donor, membership and supporter base is actually much larger. ?The number of email accounts worldwide is more than three times the combined number of Facebook and Twitter accounts?, says Robert Burko, CEO of Elite Email. ?This means that nonprofit organizations are not able to reach their entire base by just using one of the social platforms, which is why so many are now turning to email as the backbone of their communications strategy.?
Small business email marketing has been experiencing year-over-year growth for several years now, as email proves to be highly flexible, easy to deploy and cost effective. With the ROI of email marketing software vastly exceeding other marketing tools , it has been easy for the business environment to begin to treat email as a key marketing tactic. Nonprofit email marketing has lagged behind a little bit, but with the recent surge in Q1 2012, it appears to be catching up.
Nonprofit and charity email marketing is very effective because it is so adaptable to the specific organizational needs. Many nonprofits now conduct their fundraising initiatives purely using digital mediums, such as email and social networks. This allows them to reach a lot more people, in a shorter amount of time, with a much higher effectiveness when compared to a telemarketing or traditional mail campaigns. Plus, as many nonprofits are ?going green?, they are eager to abandon all the wasted paper generated from their traditional mail campaigns in favor of the much more environmentally friendly email.
Nonprofit organizations are also able to use their email marketing program to coordinate events and make broad announcements with greater ease. The timeliness of email is also one of the critical factors leading to the growth of nonprofit email marketing. Other marketing tools require a long lead time before a campaign can be executed. With email marketing, a nonprofit or charity organization can create email campaigns within minutes and send it out to their entire mailing list. This allows them to respond faster to breaking news, world events and other factors that require they distribute their message.
With the increase in nonprofit email marketing seen in Q1 2012, Elite Email expects that the remaining quarters will continue to see rapid growth as more nonprofits start building their opt in
email marketing mailing list so they do not risk falling behind.
