When MTV?s reality show Jersey Shore hit the airwaves in late 2009, it became an instant success, becoming the television station?s most watched series ever. Jersey Shore?s charismatic cast of characters is arguably the reason for the show?s popularity, and Nicole ?Snooki? Polizzi is arguably the most infamous of the crew. Known for her wild, drunken antics and eccentric personality, Snooki is regularly the subject of tabloid gossip. This party girl recently topped herself with the most controversial news of all: that she will be having a baby. So what?s with this completely unexpected Snooki evolution? Here are the juicy details:
The cover up. Although she now admits that she knew she was pregnant back in January, Snooki repeatedly denied pregnancy rumors up until her March announcement. It is likely she covered up her pregnancy in order to be able to sell her story to the highest bidder, as these days, celebrities can really rake in the big bucks when they give a magazine rights to such a big news story.
A changed woman. Snooki is committed to changing her ways, and is actually quoted as saying, ?No more peeing on porches. Those days are over.? Either the excitement of having a baby (or those pregnancy hormones) have gone to her head, or she means what she says. Hopefully it?s the latter.
Daddy-to-be. Along with her pregnancy announcement, Snooki informed the world that she was also engaged to be married to her baby-daddy, Jionni La Valle. Much of two entire seasons of Jersey Shore focused on this, let?s say, less than perfect relationship ? ?which has many people wondering if the two are really capable of providing a functional and stable home life for a new baby. Either way, the couple plan on tying the knot, and recently celebrated their engagement and pregnancy with both sets of parents in the La Valle family home.
What?s next for Snooki? Well, she has already announced that she will not be returning for the sixth season of Jersey Shore. This may be very damaging for the show, as it has already seen plummeting ratings. Snooki?s long awaited spin-off show, also featuring her Jersey Shore co-star Jenni ?J-Woww? Farley, has now completely changed course. It is no longer about two wild girls partying together, but is rather about a woman who is growing up and becoming a responsible wife and mother. Many people speculate that Snooki might even get her own television show, centered on her new life with husband and baby.
So, Snooki is pregnant and engaged to be married. Jersey Shore will never be the same. How long will this unlikely star stay in the spotlight? Only time will tell.
