Prostate cancer: If some one has an elevated PSA ? what is the next step?

If some one has an elevated PSA ? what is the next step?- I think they would repeat the psa, then if it was still elevated they would do a biopsy to tell if it is because of prostatitis or cancer? am I right?
If it was cancer, then what is the next step? Straight to surgery?
Would love to hear from ppl who knowabout or /have treated the above?. ty

Hi, there are many reasons for raised PSA. Could just be infection but the only way of finding out is yes, probably a biopsy. All depends how raised it is and if youve any other symptoms! Good luck.
