Staten Island youth sports roundup: Swimming, baseball, basketball and golf

SWIMMING

Great Kills wins

Great Kills topped Richmond County CC 321-127 in a Staten Island Interclub swim meet. Triple winners were Casey Briordy, John Spade, Matt Murano, Casey Abel, Katherine London, and Rich McDonell.

BASEBALL

Mid-Island wins Interleague tilt

Matthew Tumminia and Dominic Devito pitched Cangiano?s (Mid-Island) over Mammoth Construction (South Shore) 7-4 in Babe Ruth Interleague Prep play.

Ryan Clemens and Steven Trifilio pitched D-Mak Concrete (SS) over the South Shore Orioles 8-5.

Mike Falcone and Joe Scerra had the RBI as the Robert Curatolo Rangers (M-I) blanked Rab?s Country Lanes (M-I) 3-0 in Seniors.

Samamtha Rosario (win) fanned six and led Straightline Collision to a 4-2 win over Sonny?s Gourmet Deli in South Shore LL Junior Minor play. Christian Corsaro and Robert Salafia combined for four hits and three RBI.

BASKETBALL

Summer league action

Brian Newman and Curtis Torchiano teamed for 15 points as St. Teresa?s topped St. Athanasius 23-11 in 5th-6th grade Catholic Youth Organization Summer league play

Angelica Mrozcek scored 13 to lead St. Teresa?s to a 21-18 victory over Our Lady Queen of Peace.

Phineas Lawson scored the go-ahead basket with seconds remaining to help Holy Family edge Holy Rosary 19-17 in 4th grade action.

Gus Scelzo, Yoel Rodriguez and Anthony Clemenza combined for 44 points as St. Charles topped Our Lady Queen of Peace 62-42 in 7th grade play.
