Government must 'educated the homeowner' when it comes to energy ...

It is down to the government to "educate" people about energy efficiency in their homes, according to a home improvement organisation.

Andrew Leech, the director of the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), said that with the Green Deal coming in, people have to know what they have to do.

"The government has got to do a lot more in educating the homeowner to improve their property in order to meet the standard that the Green Deal requires," he said.

"Home improvements could cost ? anywhere between ?20,000 and ?80,000 per household."

As more homeowners become environmentally-conscious, more people might use self storage facilities to ensure their belongings are safe while carrying out more green renovations.

The Green Deal is a government initiative to support energy efficiency measures set to made to houses. It was launched towards the end of last year and its aim is to make energy more affordable.?
